O filme e o livro fazem uma crítica à condição feminina no período, reconstruindo o descontentamento vivenciado pelas mulheres em face aos limitados horizontes educacionais e de cidadania a que poderiam aspirar. A obra de Austen retrata a sociedade da época, pela preocupação com a realidade do feminismo em relação à educação, às desigualdades de gêneros, à influência da cultura patriarcal na vida das mulheres, e o casamento como solução. Dessa forma, para entendermos todos os aspectos colocados por Austen, é necessário articular a analise do filme com a obra. Contudo deve-se preservar o que é característico de cada veículo, se observarmos que o cinema conta com recursos, visuais e auditivos que o livro não possui. Porém, há aqueles que criticam, por não encontrarem na tela a reprodução dos elementos observados no livro impresso. Então, para que se possa afirmar até que ponto as adaptações cinematográficas retratam o “espírito” da autora, faz-se necessário primeiro conhecer sua obra para depois estabelecer um paralelo com o filme. Como suporte teórico, trabalhamos na análise as relações entre literatura, cultura e sociedade, com base em Perrot (1988), Williams (2011) e o cinema como testemunho da história (FERRO, 1992). ABSTRACTThe objective of this paper is to analyze female education in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries from the analysis of the film adaptation of the book "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, by director Joe Wright. The film and the book makes a critical period in the female condition, rebuilding the discontent experienced by women in the face of limited educational horizons and citizenship that could aspire. The work of Austen portrays the society of the time, the concern with the reality of feminism in relation to education, gender inequality, the influence of the patriarchal culture in the lives of women and marriage as a solution. Thus, to understand all aspects posed by Austen, it is necessary to combine the analysis of the film to work. However one must preserve what is characteristic of each vehicle, if we observe that the film has resources, visual and hearing that the book lacks. However, there are those who criticize for not finding the screen play of the elements observed in the printed book. So it can be said that the extent to which film adaptations depict the "spirit" of the author, it is necessary to first know his work and then draw a parallel with the film.
